Live Mode enables participants to respond to questions in real time, fostering genuine engagement. This synchronized interaction allows both facilitators and participants to progress through questions together, view results instantly, and enhance the event experience. Participants have the option to engage in the interaction using a phone, tablet, or computer.

Creating a Live Mode Interaction

To create a Live Mode Interaction you will need to:

  1. Create a Live Mode Interaction

  2. Add Questions

  3. Customize the Design

  4. Customize the Results View

  5. Test

Step 1: Create a Live Mode Interaction

To use Live Mode click on the “NEW” button in the upper-right corner of your account page. The pop-up window allows you to choose the type of interaction:

To start, hover over "Live Mode" and click the “Create New” button. Once you select this type you will be directed to the “Create/Edit” tab where you will enter the title and internal notes of the interaction:

This tab allows you to edit Delivery and Response Options. Don’t forget to save this information by selecting the “Save” button. After the interaction title and summary are entered, you can create questions by selecting “Add Question.”

Step 2: Add Questions

Once you click the “Add Question” button you will see this modal appear:

Live mode supports multiple choice questions, both scored and unscored, as well as scored short answer questions. Additionally, you can incorporate slides to further enrich your interaction. Scored questions enable you to design quizzes that assess participants on their knowledge with correct or incorrect answers. Alternatively, by deselecting the “scored” option, questions can be used to collect feedback or opinions without scoring.

Time Limit

The Time Limit is a feature that controls how long participants have to answer each question. Participants need to answer within a set time, which you can set to be anywhere from 5 to 120 seconds. If they don’t answer in time, they miss the chance to answer that question. You can set the Time Limit individually for each question, or apply it to all questions in the interaction through the Additional Settings.

Step 3: Customize the Design

In the “Design” tab you can customize your interaction. You can change text font, size, color, and button style as well as the background color to perfectly match your brand's design.

The design settings you choose will apply to both the facilitator's view and the participant's view.

Step 4: Customize the Results View

The Results View will be visible to participants only after the interaction is complete. By default, it will display the Title, Results, and Leaderboard blocks. You can customize these blocks or add new ones according to your needs.

Step 5: Test

This content type doesn't include a preview feature, so you'll need to test your interaction using our direct link. First, ensure your content is ready, then publish the interaction. Once published, navigate to the 'Deliver' tab to access the Facilitator’s link. This is where you control what the participants see on their screens.

Test the interaction by walking through all the questions on the Facilitator's screen. After completing your run-through, click the “Restart” button to reset the interaction to its starting point. If you also wish to experience and test from a participant’s perspective, remember to delete your test responses afterward. This helps keep the actual event results accurate and unaffected by the test data.

Facilitating Live Mode

After publishing the interaction and accessing the Facilitator’s link from the 'Deliver' tab—as previously described—you're set to manage a Live Mode experience. Let's delve into how this link functions during an actual event and explore the steps to effectively engage with your audience in real time.

Welcome Screen

When you open the Facilitator’s link, the Welcome Screen will appear. Here's what you'll see:

  • Participant Count: You can see the current number of participants who have joined the session.
  • Joining Options: Participants have two ways to join: they can either scan the QR code displayed on the screen or follow the provided link and enter the displayed PIN.
  • Starting the Session: To begin the interaction, simply click the "Start" button.

Here’s how Live Mode will appear for participants at the start when using the QR code:

Navigating Live Mode

As the facilitator, you control the flow of the session using the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons. You can also toggle the leaderboard display at any time, keeping participants engaged by showing their standings.

Displaying Results

Results will be shown under any of the following conditions:

  • When the timer expires.

  • After all participants have submitted their responses.

  • When you press the "Next" button to move to the next question.

There's no need to worry about accidentally moving on too quickly; a warning message will appear if you click "Next" and not all participants have finished responding. Even if you move to the next question by accident, you can click the “Previous” button and navigate back.

Participants and Answers

You will be able to see the total number of participants who have answered each question. If a participant leaves during a question - regardless of whether they answered or not - they will still be counted in the participant total for that specific question.

For example, if the display shows 3/3 participants who have joined and answered a question, and one person leaves, that number will remain at 3/3 for that question. However, if a new user joins, the count will update to show 3/4.

The participant count will be updated in the next question. For example, if Question 1 shows 3/3 people answered but one user has left, the display for the following question will show 0/2 to reflect this change.

Final Display

After all questions have been answered, the last question will remain on the facilitator's screen. At this point, we recommend displaying the final leaderboard to conclude the session. On the participants' screens, the Results View will appear, showcasing their final scores.

Additional Information

  1. At the end of each question, the percentage of participants who answered correctly will be displayed.
